The total gross weight of the consignment was 113,237 KGS (860 Packages) and the cargo was Equipment, Hardware, and Metal Fabrications. The charter flight came via AirBridgeCargo Airlines on 20th of February, 2022.
Initially, Dhaka Airport Authorities refused to accept one of the pieces namely “PIPE 89х5 GOST 8732 st.20 GOST 1050” because of its long length (around 40 FT). Ground Servicing Equipment (GSE) was unable to provide the required technical support for discharging this cargo from the aircraft. Their technical support was able to handle cargo with a maximum length of 20 FT. This refusal led uncertainty.
However, Shodesh Shipping & Logistic Company (SSLC) conducted meetings with high officials of the Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB), Ground Servicing Equipment (GSE) Department, and AirBridgeCargo Airlines and took all responsibilities to discharge the cargo from the aircraft and carry it to the Biman Storage safely.
In the end, the company successfully accomplished the discharge operation by using two high loaders simultaneously with proper synchronization.
Besides discharging from the aircraft, SSLC was also responsible for doing customs transit formalities, arranging transportation to Rooppur NPP, unloading at the jobsite and clearing the cargo at Rooppur Customs Station.
