ACEN Australia has reached a significant milestone at its New England Solar and BESS project in northern NSW with the delivery of the first 250MVA transformer from China.
The 171-tonne BESS transformer was transported over 7700km from Shanghai to Uralla. Not the least being cyclone Alfred, subsequent road transport contingencies and partial site flooding.
One Global Logistics (OGL) managed the successful shipping and landside project logistics delivery for NEBESS Transformer Package 1 on behalf of electrical contractor EPEC Group.
Transformer 1 was successfully shipped, customs cleared, and delivered by OGL’s Project Logistics Team of Darrin Honeybrook and James Sparke, who said “OGL worked closely with EPEC, ACEN, and key stakeholders for a successful first delivery over a 6 month period”.
After being transported almost 1000km from the Port of Brisbane to the site, the transformer was carefully positioned by Ares Group over several hours using a specialised skate, and jacking system to gently lower it onto the plinth.
The second transformer is due for shipping during late 2025.
