CU Logistics has started to extend their services to cover all scope of cross border inland transportation. The Thai Government is focusing on sending a trade mission to a border trade market once a month on average. Thai trade missions will be sent to four cities, namely Mandalay in Myanmar and Champasak, Savannakhet, and Vientiane in Lao PDR. Moreover, the Ministry of Commerce will increase the number of Thai Trade Centers in the country, with new ones established in three provinces, namely Tak, Mukdahan and Si Sa Ket. The existing five provincial Thai Trade Centers are located in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Chon Buri, Sa Kaeo and Nong Khai. The establishment of more trade centers is intended to facilitate Thai exports and achieve the new cross-border trade target.
Thailand has common borders with Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, with its provincial customs offices supervising cross-border trade. All the customs offices also have temporary and permanent border checkpoints to facilitate border trade, which is considered important for enhancing the country’s competitiveness. Border trade is also a channel for acquiring low-cost raw materials at low transportation costs.
With the continued growth and new emphasis on cross border trade CU Logistics provides the following examples of cross border project transportation.
