The F-Class gas turbine, manufactured by Siemens Germany was unloaded at the New North Peer Colombo Port for the 350 MW Sobadhanavi Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Power Plant Project, Kerawalapitiya, Sri Lanka. It was a tremendous achievement for the entire Power Industry of Sri Lanka, marking the arrival of the first highly efficient F-Class gas turbine into the country. Projects FPS (Pvt) Ltd is officially appointed as the Total Logistic Partner for Sobadhanavi Limited Sri Lanka and successfully completed the first movement of cargo by using multi-model transportation as per the expectation of the customer.
The said operation included Colombo port handling such as temporary storage, double-bank operation from heavy lift Vessel to Barge, Sri Lanka Customs formalities, Tug and Barge port agency, facilitation of local tug boats for barge tow and Roll-on / Roll-off operations for the movement of 318 tons Gas Turbine & 317 tons Gas Turbine Generator.
Director of Projects FPS (Pvt) Ltd, Travis Meerwald mentioned that they are confident in handling the rest of the multimodal cargo transportation which will consist of another 30 heavy lift units and 15 more over-dimensional cargo successfully as well.
