The first mile in Italy was carried out with a bioGNL vehicle, that is capable of using liquefied methane produced from biomass coming from agricultural waste. A technology that allows a reduction of CO2 emissions up to 95%. The vehicle made the first mile from the loading area, up to the Verona freight village, where it was loaded onto the train. The CO2 reduction on the electrified intermodal section is calculated as -60%. Finally, the last mile, from the Cologne freight village to the unloading point, was carried out with a Biodiesel vehicle with a CO2 reduction of 55%.
