The Global Conference for CLC Projects & Cross Ocean Starts in:

Wiima Logistics Scrubber Business Update

Scrubber business is doing well!

From 1 January 2020, the limit for sulphur in fuel-oil used on-board ships operating outside designated emission control areas will be reduced to 0.50%. This will significantly reduce the amount of sulphur oxide emanating from ships and should have major health and environmental benefits for the world, particularly for populations living close to ports and coasts.

To meet the new sulfur regulations shipowners face two options: use fuel oil which is inherently low enough in sulphur, or install exhaust gas cleaning systems known as “scrubbers”.

Wiima has a front-row seat at this industry-changing show. This 25-ton scrubber was loaded last Friday at Turku, Finland. The final destination is at the port of Shanghai, China.

Wiima says “It’s quite an impressive looking piece of machinery and wonderful to be a part of a business that makes the environment a bit cleaner for all of us. Hopefully, we will be moving a lot more of these things in the future!”
