Carmelo Caruana Company Ltd successfully completed a project that was awarded through DSV Global Transport and Logistics. The works commenced last October 2015 until June 2016 although the planning started months ahead. The project was headed by the projects division involving various departments within the company namely, the shipping agency, freight forwarding, customs clearance as well as the warehousing.
The heaviest cargo consisting of transformers, turbines, condensers and other components were delivered on five heavy lift vessels. This brought a number of challenges mainly the berth, terrain and space restrictions at site. The rest of the cargo was shipped over to Malta via containers, trailers and airfreight being immediately delivered at site or at Carmelo Caruana’s storage facilities. Components were fed to site on a daily basis depending on the section being erected. The scope also included assistance to Fagioli SPA on site with providing ancillary lifting equipment and all of their logistics demands.
