After Hardship Comes Ease
Location: Kemaman, Terengganu, Malaysia

Description: Petronas Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) Plant Decommissioning Project at Kerteh – Tera Projects & Shipping successfully completed the plant decommissioning project and transferred close to 16,000 freight tons of cargo ex project site to Kemaman Port for loading. Among the dismantled items, there were some oversized & heavy units such as reactors, vessels, tanks & silos.

The attached photo shows some of the oversized items which were transferred ex project site to the Kemaman storage yard. After conducting a detailed route survey, Tera Projects identified the best possible route to transport these oversized items – at almost 8 meters in diameter – from the project site to Kemaman Port.

The journey ex site began around 23:00 with a police escort and arrived at the storage yard the next morning around 8:00. It took 9 hours to complete the whole journey (approximately 45 kilometers). Traffic lights removal, electricity cables removal, telecommunication cables removal, tree trimming, road leveling and high tension cables shut down were executed during the convoy.
